What is a Sustainable Community Strategy?

The Sustainable Community Strategy is a fundamentally important document which sets out a clear, long-term vision for the future of East Kent over the next twenty years and it outlines the steps that will need to be taken in order to make that vision a reality.

Firmly rooted in local needs and aspirations, it points the direction for other plans to follow. It co-ordinates the actions of partners and concentrates their resources to best advance the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the people of East Kent.

By taking a long-term view and considering carefully the implications of its proposals, the Strategy ensures that its benefits will not just be appreciated now but will continue to bear fruit for generations still to come.
